If you, like me, have experienced the frustration of submitting a mail-in rebate offer only to have it rejected (or simply ignored), then you absolutely must check out Donna's post "Steps to Take When Your Rebate Check Does Not Arrive" at About.com: Coupons/Bargains. I recently swore off mail-in rebate offers, but maybe I'll change my mind...

I actually go out of my way to not buy things that offer rebates. I think they're a dishonest vendor tactic.
An example is Linen's N Things. Retailers are often given minimum prices to market items. So what they'll do is they'll mark it up 20 percent during the whole year and soak up the extra dough before it going on "sale" for 20% off, which is the vendor suggested price.
Only with mail in rebates it's a sale that you have to go out of your way to get your hard earned money back.
