I hate to admit this, but I almost always put on weight during the holiday season. After all, it can be difficult to eat healthfully when surrounded by so many delicious cookies, candies, cakes, and pies!
But an expanding wasitline isn't the only downside to holiday excess. It can also be easy to break your budget buying fancy frozen appetizers, the ingredients for too many baking projects, and other snacks to serve your friends and family.
Fortunately, there are many healthy, frugal alternatives to pricey, processed holiday treats. Here are some of my favorites. What are yours?
- Seasonal fresh fruits and veggies served with homemade dip
- Oven-baked fries
- Rice pudding prepared from scratch
- Taco salad prepared with fresh ingredients
- Wholesome cookies and granola bars
- Toasted pumpkin or squash seeds
- Home-baked fruit or grain muffins
- Tortilla chips topped with homemade chili
- Assorted dried fruits and nuts

You can also freeze fruit for a nice, healthy, ice-cream like snack :)
I know how you feel. But what I am finding that now that I am on the correct vitamins I don't crave them. So I am not over eating them. Ya.
